The servers will be going down Sunday, May 28th (tomorrow) for approximately 1 hour for routine maintenance. During this time, I will clean the cases and replace the power supplies and fans. This will ensure the longevity of the servers and hopefully will not require anymore maintenance for another year, at least. Unfortunately I cannot be anymore specific about when the outage will occur. I will be driving out to Dallas (about 4 hours drive from here) and because I have no idea exactly when I’ll be leaving, I can’t give an estimate of when the outage will occur. So if you try to access the website and it appears to be down, just give it a little time and the site will become available again soon after. Thanks for your patience and understanding, and let’s hope nothing unexpected happens while all this is going on. I anticipate no big problems, but you simply never know. If the website seems to be down for more than 1 hour, it means something went terribly wrong and you can rest assured I will be working non-stop until everything is back to normal. During this time you will not be able to send me any emails (the mail server is going down also) but if you need to reach me for whatever reason, please call me at 903-278-9098. The first "child of Nexus" has been born! On July 25th at 11:54 pm, a 6 lb 4 oz, 19-inch-long baby boy was born to Grim Giovanni (aka Ken) and Battalia (aka Tina) being named Kegan Earl Myles. What's so special about their new son is that the proud parents originally met each other right here on the Nexus. This weekend I will be moving the servers to a new location. This will allow me to take advantage of some excellent resources, including redundant internet connections, fire protection, better cooling and cleaner atmosphere, multiple backup power systems and more. This will ensure that the site is even more reliable than before and will ensure that everything is up and running at all times. Barring a hardware failure (rare) I don't expect anymore outages after this move. The move will happen in the morning of Saturday April 2nd (central time) and will be finished sometime in the mid-afternoon. If things are still down by the evening on Saturday, I would be very surprised. In the meantime, you may experience the occasional outage while I'm getting the machines prepped for the move. These outages should last no more than about 5-10 minutes at the most while I am adding/changing hardware in preperation for the move. Please bear with me this week while I get everything finalized for the move. After this weekend, things should be very stable for the foreseeable future. Ok, even more outages! I contacted my ISP yesterday when the site went down about 2:45pm central time. The discovered that because of some construction that was happening down the street, my line was cut. So now we're back up again and I'd like to extend my sincerest apologies on behalf of Murphy's Law. Hopefully this won't happen again anytime soon. -- Donboy and the staff of the Nexus

I just wanted to write and explain some of the outages we've been having on the site. My ISP has told me that they believe my modem is the cause of the problem. Today they put a new modem in the mail and it will be overnighted to me. I should receive the new modem tomorrow, the morning of the 10th. I will install the new modem as soon as I receive it. My ISP has also explained that they are doing a planned outage that will begin tonight at 1AM CST and lasting until about 5AM CST the morning of the 10th. They also have another planned outage somewhere around the 15th of this month for the same times. I can't confirm the exact date yet, but I will come back here and update this with the correct date when I know it, but to the best of my knowledge it's around the 15th. I expect to receive the new modem sometime before lunch tomorrow. Until then, you may experience an outage on the site, or you may experience delays in performance. For example, pages may seem to load properly one minute, but timeout the next. Please bear with me. Of course I am as frustrated as all of you, because there is little I can do on my end. I am writing to tell you about a planned site outage. On Wednesday night / Thursday morning, January 19th and 20th 2005, my internet provider has notified me that they will be performing scheduled maintenance on my internet connection. This begin at 1:00 AM CST and end by 05:00 AM CST on Thursday morning. During this time, I plan to take all of my servers offline for some routine cleaning and hardware adjustments. I don't expect the service to be down more than about 1 hour, so if you are trying to access the website during that time, please bear with me while I bring everything back online. -- Donboy and the staff of the Nexus
The site changes are pretty much complete. Most of the site's pages have been updated to the single-page format. Please contact me if you find any broken links, pages or images that aren't loading properly, 500 error messages, or if you get a 404 error for a page that you think should exist. The site is undergoing major rennovation. Some of the site pages will not work. Some of the boards will be a little different.
